Inspiration During the Awkward Months

Living in the west coast is kind of a strange thing. The holidays end and immediately visions of springtime fill my head with lovely thoughts. And then the sad realization hits that it’s the beginning of January, 5 degrees outside, and springtime doesn't usually show up until at least April.
Then the impending question: what do I wear?

My mind wants bright and lovely colors, but my backyard suggests otherwise.

Inspiration is a funny thing. It is something that cannot be conjured up, and it means something different to each person. Finding out what inspires someone, is almost like seeing into their soul (only maybe a little less intense).

What you wear has a lot to do with what inspires you. It may be hard to connect that in your mind, but spend enough time thinking about it and you will come to the same conclusion.
Picking an outfit to wear each day may seem like an overwhelming task, and it definitely can be; especially when your creative juices have been used up on other things that week.

Learning what inspires you, and connecting it to your style definitely can take time – and it can change as well, but knowing what sort of things spark your creative interest, can help your narrow down what your style is and help you to remember that when you’re stuck on what to put on during (what I like to call) the awkward months.

  1. It can be very discouraging getting dressed this time of year! Especially when your outfit just gets soaked in the rain (like today). Love this post :)
